Hi, everyone, how was your day?
Today was my slow day, so I took advantage of my extra time and made pancakes with my TJ’s multigrain pancake mix.
They turned out just the way I like them—very light, with the center still gooey. My Aunt Melissa taught me this. It makes it so that you don’t need syrup, and since I don’t have any syrup, it was perfect!
I loved them, and them, and they were very filling.
After my big breakfast, I drove to the store to pick up a couple things for meals for the week. I’ve started meal planning, so that I only have to make one trip to the store per week. It worked out well last week, so hopefully I can keep it up.
After my very filling and carby breakfast, I had a light lunch around 3. I had romaine lettuce with some cucumber and chicken. I topped it with a new light ranch dressing I’d picked up at the store.
About an hour later, I had a white peach for a little snack.
Then I decided to get my rear in gear and sweat a little! I walked with Leslie for “four fast miles.” This is a video that has walking and jogging intervals, and it really does make you sweat.
After that, I quickly fixed up my dinner.
I cooked up some of the ww TJ’s pasta, and added some light(er) ground beef to a jar of spaghetti sauce.
I topped it with some shredded parmesan cheese on top. This turned out so good and comforting. I had forgotten how much I loved spaghetti!
I had planned to have some toast on the side, but was too full from the pasta. So I waited until later when I got a little hungry, and had a sandwich thin with some spray butter and garlic salt.

So in my Education classes, we’re put into discussion groups. Here’s how our conversation went:
Girl 1: (to girl 2) So, have you gone vegetarian yet?
Girl 2: Not really, it’s just cheaper to not buy meat, so I usually don’t eat it.
Me: Yeah, beans are really cheap, and they’ve got 99-cent tofu at the Super H Mart.
Girl 2: You know, that’s really not good for you. It’s so processed. You shouldn’t eat it very much.
*silence*
Yes, I realize I’m probably thinking way too into it, but I just thought that was sort of… weird? rude? I don’t know. I really wanted to tell her that yes, I did know that. I know If you know me in real life, you’ll know I like to talk about food. I like to talk about which foods are healthy, and which are not-so-healthy. But I’ll probably only talk to you about this if (1) you bring up the subject, or (2) we know each other really well. This girl does not know enough about me to be giving me nutrition advice.
Okay, I’m going to get off my rant now. I’m sure lots of you have dealt with similar situations. How do you deal with unwanted nutritional advice? [I also wanted to add that of course I love getting advice on here, just not in real life from someone who barely knows my name.]

Bye guys, I’ll see you tomorrow!
I’m with you on this one. I think the comment was unnecessary. I don’t know, maybe it’s just that I could not ever imagine telling someone else not to eat something because it’s “not good for them.” It just wasn’t her place. Who knows, maybe she wouldn’t have said it if she’d thought about it a little more. I really do wish that more people would just think before they speak.
Food is such a sensitive issue… people really just need to mind their own food business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, they do!
Maybe she was just trying to be helpful – or have something to talk with you about. But yes- I often get defensive when someone gives me unwanted advice. I get it A LOT at one of my jobs – you can probably guess which one!
Pancakes look soooo good! I haven’t had them forever, I think I need to have them soon! Yum!! As for the ‘unwanted’ advice, i’d just brush it off… everyone likes to give their 2 cents. lol! I love Leslie’s DVD’s… I do them a few times a week, and they really do give you a great workout!

I wish we had Trader Joe’s in Canada, all your food looks awesome!
When people give me unwanted nutrition advice, I just smile through it and don’t give it a second thought. In general I think it’s rude to give advice if the person you’re giving it to isn’t asking.
What the world needs: more TJ’s and less WalMarts!
I had pancakes for breakfast this morning too! Yum! That chicken, cucumber salad looks better than what I had for lunch though. Sometimes when someone gives unasked for advice, it’s fun to ask them ( in a nice and seemingly interested way) to explain. Most of the time they’re just repeating something they’ve heard and they can’t really back it up. Lots of healthy people eat tofu, so what makes her know better?
Love that advice!
