Race Day Food
Pre-race dinner. Pasta with pesto.
Pre-race breakfast. A mini ww bagel with light PB. I wanted a banana, too, but we were out :(
Post-race lunch. Annie’s macaroni and cheese with broccoli.
Post-race dinner at Grandma’s house. Pasta and chicken with pesto. I think I’ll turn green soon from all this pesto, but I won’t mind a bit! Delicious yellow squash on the side.
Dessert #1: some sweet watermelon.
Dessert #2: Low-fat/low-cal ice cream. This was a Weight Watcher’s brand one. I can’t remember what it was called, but it tasted like a Frappuccino, and I really want to get some more!
Race Pictures
Before the race. I was so nervous.
After the race. I was very sweaty and tired.
My Thoughts On the Race
The race was pretty hard. I did better than I’ve done on a run around the neighborhood, which is normal for races. There was one really big hill right before the beginning of the 3rd mile that I thought I was going to die on. Seriously, it seemed to go one forever. My biggest fear was that I was going to come in last (there were only 100 people running), but I didn’t. Overall, it was a good race and I was glad I ran it!
SO proud of you!! Keep up the running, but be sure to stretch afterwards so you can continue running injury free.
Thanks. I’ll try.
Congrats to you for running it! I’m still working on doing my first. My husband and I both hope to do one someday. We’re not mentally there yet, if you know what I mean.
Yeah, it is a mental thing. I bet you’ll do fantastically when you do one!
Great job! Wear that t-shirt with pride! :)
Thanks, I will :)
Congratulations! Hills are tough – I do hill runs sometimes just to be prepared because you never know what will be thrown at you on a course.
Tip for you – save your bib and write down the time it took you to finish your first race. You’ll always have that to give you inspiration as you do many more :)
That’s a great idea! This was actually my 4th race, but I’ll have to start doing that now! I might put them up in my room so I can see them every day.
I was sooooo proud of you yesterday – even though you were nervous you never talked about backing out. You DID it!!!!!
Thanks for taking me and cheering me on!
Hi! I saw your comments elsewhere and wanted to drop-by. I applaud your efforts to find your happy weight, something I’m also trying to do. I will be checking in to see your progress. Your pictures are amazing and tell a great story.
here’s to good running!

Thank you. I hope you’ll stop by again!
Congratulations on your first 5k! And a PR to boot! Just think of how much you will improve for your next race.
I started running 2 years ago with the goal of doing a 5k. Since then I’ve done 5ks, a 10k, and 2 half marathons.
I’m ridiculously slow but I love to run!
I have so much respect for anyone who can run at any level. Congrats on all your accomplishments with running!
Great job and congrats on your 5k!! I cant wait until I can participate in my first race!
To answer your question.. i stopped running until I lose a bit more weight becasue of bad problems in my left knee. I have tried different things to help it, including hip exercises, slower speed, knee sleeves, etc and nothing seems to help. So I thought maybe it was my excess weight that was just too hard on my knee. I think that is not the right thought though. I am going to try new shoes and see if that helps and if it doesnt then I think it may be lack of muscle in other parts of my legs. Well will see!
Hmm that’s tough. I know how hard it is to run with extra weight (I’m in that situation right now, unfortunately). I’m just having a hard time being patient and knowing that it will get easier soon.
Congrats!
I’m a little late here but I just wanted to say Good For You!!!! That is fantastic and even though it was difficult I’m sure it felt really good when you were done. What a great accomplishment!
Thank you!
congrats on your race and all your food looks super yummy
Thank you. MOST of the food I eat IS super yummy! ;)
Great job! You are such an inspiration!
Thank you, that’s sweet of you to say :)
